ACMP Midwest Quarterly Newsletter - April 2019

Welcome! I’m excited to share with you the first Midwest Chapter newsletter. Late last year, you told us in the member survey that you wanted to hear more about things that are happening in the Chapter. This newsletter, published quarterly, is one of the ways we plan to help you stay informed about activities, events, and other news.

It’s been an exciting seven months since our Midwest Change Connect Conference. One major milestone we achieved is the completion of our Chapter strategy. We have lots of things we’re working on including the development of a relationship with Northwestern University. In February, we held our first Prosci workshop – and there are more in the works. In March, we launched a new website that is easier to navigate and includes a Members’ only area.

I’m personally thrilled that we have accomplished so much in such a short period of time. In this newsletter alone, you’ll read about our membership survey, learn about upcoming events, and enjoy industry related articles. I hope you enjoy the newsletter!

-Steve Salisbury, President, ACMP Midwest Chapter

Improving the Member Experience

To improve the member experience, both the Board of Directors and the membership committee wanted to better understand the voice of our membership. In November, we sent a survey to all chapter members. The feedback was invaluable and will help improve the following three areas identified as most important to our membership:

  • Professional Development
  • Communications
  • Member engagement (Volunteer opportunities, networking, sharing best practices, etc.)

The Board of Directors and their committees have incorporated your input into the chapter’s strategic plan to address key concerns in 2019. Our goal is to deliver the best experiences for you and below, we’ve shared how we’re progressing against suggestions in the survey.

This quarterly newsletter and the new, rebranded website are the first couple of steps to improve our communication. There is a lot happening within the Chapter and we want to get the word out! We are also working towards delivering a differentiated member experience through regional events as well as full Chapter events, like the Midwest Change Connect Conference (MCC). The Change Up events create an informal setting to network with others and to hear about all the changes and opportunities happening in this industry. We’ve already held our first Change Up in Indianapolis, IN on March 28 and have Change Ups planned this spring for Chicago, IL and Madison, WI.

2019 is going to be an exciting year for the Midwest Chapter and we hope you consider getting involved. On behalf of the Board and the membership committee, it is an honor serving our members. Thank you for being a member of ACMP Midwest. And if you aren’t a member, join today!

What kind of work do you? I am the Founder and Managing Director of Axxum Consulting, delivering Human Capital services. I assist my clients in evaluating their people challenges and opportunities to ensure organizational effectiveness. My sweet spot is Change Management, I love coming in and help leaders and employees navigate Change with as less disruption as possible with a touch of fun!

How long have you been an ACMP member? I’ve been a member since 2013.

Why is being a part of the ACMP community important to you? I value being a member of ACMP for two reasons: first to expand my network of Change Management professionals and secondly, for my personal development: access to resources and to constantly learn about industry trends so I stay up to date.

What do you wish more people in the business world knew or understood about Change Management? That to be successful, evolve and be on top of the game, you need to be able to transform and change constantly. Change is hard. People get comfortable in what they know. I would say that having a robust Change Management practice is a must for organizations but also for individuals.

What are you looking forward to professionally in 2019? Keep growing my business and expand my Change Management network!
